elementary school teacher! I entered the field of education and counseling at that time and never looked back! I taught for 5 years then
transitioned to the work of school counseling finishing my Masters in Counseling in 1998. I graduated the PhD Counseling
'Psychology Program at the University of Houston in 2002. I then worked as a psychologist for Houston Independent School District. I
interned at HISD and at Baylor's Blue Bird Clinic to learn about counseling and evaluating children and adolescents.
I specialize in counseling and evaluation for children and adolescents from age 18 months to 21 years of age. I speak Spanish. My

Pre-adolescence and adolescence can be a confusing and challenging time. When a child has problems at home, school, or with peers, this can cause considerable stress and anxiety for children, adults, and families involved. I work with children, adolescents, and young adults, struggling with everyday trials and life transitions. These can include: social stress, academic stress, ADHD, behavior issues, coping skills, low self-esteem, trauma & grief, emotion regulation, executive functioning, sports/athletics, and major life changes.
I earned my Bachelorís in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies, and then received my Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology, both from the University of Houston. I volunteer at Ben Taub Hospital, in the Houston Medical Center, implementing play therapy with children receiving long and short term medical treatment. I also received training with the Texas Young Autism Project, in ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) therapy working with children with neurological differences and their families. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor working in private practice in Houston, Texas. I provide counseling and psychological assessments for children and adults in evaluating for learning disorders, attention related disorders, and behavioral/emotional concerns.
Growing up I was a very active and competitive child who one day found sports as an outlet. I played soccer competitively all the way through college and understand the demands and benefits that being a student and an athlete provides. I have coached high school and club teams throughout the greater Houston area and from those experiences developed a passion for working with adolescents. For many, being a teenager presents a multitude of obstacles that they feel unequipped to face and therefore, struggle in the process. Sometimes meeting a child, right where they are, opens up doors for better understanding.
Using clinically tested and evidence-based interventions, my treatment approaches include Behavioral, Cognitive Behavioral, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy modalities. I also incorporate supplemental methods of art, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and client centered therapy all aimed at targeting and improving self and interpersonal relationships. Together, we will set specific goals and develop a plan towards your silver lining.
