My passion in life has always been helping people. I knew from a young age that I wanted to play an important part in the betterment of people's lives. This led me to pursue a career in teaching. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Early Childhood Education from the University of Houston, which led to my position as an elementary school teacher. I was a teacher for nine years working with grades two, three, and four. I spent my spare time helping children that were struggling by tutoring grades two through eight. I have a special ability to connect with children with autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, poor social skills, low self-esteem, and difficulties coping with stress. I had the opportunity to play a major role and be a positive influence in children’s lives. I have the ability to help children and their parents persevere despite their difficulties. Children with special needs were often placed in my classroom because of the additional level of personal attention and care that I was able to provide them in order to be successful. This led me to pursue a career in counseling. I earned a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Houston. I am now able to focus all of my energy on helping people lead their lives in the most positive and productive way possible
As a therapist, I provide my clients with a warm, nonjudgmental environment. I offer a safe place for them to explore issues that may be preventing them from living the life they want and deserve, and help them find happiness. I have worked with children, adolescents, teenagers and adults and find each age group incredibly rewarding. Each stage of our lives is important and wonderful in its own way, and requires the exploration of our wants and needs. My approach involves genuine caring, empathy and acceptance. I treat each client individually based on their needs. I have practice with cognitive therapies, behavior therapies, person-centered therapy, play therapy, and take a humanistic approach with my clients. My family is very important to me. I love life and find the humor and joy in everyday experiences. I am an animal lover and my husband and I are the proud owners of two wonderful rescue dogs.
